This novel starts with two sisters Effia and Esi in the Gold Coast on very different paths in life. While Effia marries a colonial soldier, Esi is sold into slavery and shipped to America.
Homegoing tells their stories and the generations’ to follow; stories of slavery, colonialism, life in America after slavery, the birth of Ghana and the plights of people of colour in Ghana and the USA.
